Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the three layers of the meninges that cover and protect the brain.
  2. Distinguish the location and surface features of the cerebellum and cerebral hemispheres, as well as each region of the brainstem: medulla oblongata, pons, and midbrain.
  3. List the cranial nerves that are associated with each region of the brain and brainstem.
  4. Distinguish some unique features of cranial nerves, such as the different subdivisions of the olfactory and optic nerves, the nervus intermedius, and related surface features of the brain.
